BadGrovnd
Solo-project that always wanted to be communal. A carnival of strange shadows in the streets of night city.
BadGrovnd was founded in 2019 in Moscow by Dmitry Pliskin and Mikhail Marushkin (Baron Shabbat). Both members of the Parovoy Chelovek 4 artgroup at that time, they wanted to achieve more mystical and esoteric vibe in their work. Project took a couple of private gigs, but no material was recorded of that era.
The project was re-born later in Yerevan, where the first public performances took place. In 2023 the project is becoming Dmitry Pliskin's solo effort. Topics remained more or less the same - painful spatial displacement, loneliness, exclusion.
BadGrovnd uses analog modular synthesizers, sound collages, and exquisite recording techniques. It strives to keep its distance from the very idea of “music,” often using musical instruments in non-musical way.
But also, this is not harsh-noise.
